Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m just one tiny human, how could I possibly make an impact on the world??”
Here’s the thing, we’re all just one tiny human in the grand picture of the universe, and I know I have thought before that there was no way I could possibly make an impact or change the world.
But, YOU can. I can. WE can.
Together, we make up a very large human race, one that inherently feels compelled to do good. We all share this big, beautiful planet, and I know we all want everything and everyone living on it to thrive.
With this in mind, I came up with a list of ways we can all make a positive impact on our world for FIVE DOLLARS or LESS!
It only takes one person to begin thinking they can make a difference, and this starts a chain reaction of goodness all over the world. My hope for this article is that by the time you’ve finished reading, you will see that something which may seem small actually is what sparks a huge impact.
#1 – Help the Environment
Some of you may know about the amazing 501(c)3 non-profit organization, One Tree Planted, but for those of you who don’t, I’m going to brief you on their mission. Their goal is to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting a tree, and it truly is simple: One Dollar = One Tree Planted.
They plant trees all over the world, and most of their projects help with reforestation from forest fires and floods. Through this effort, they also create jobs, build communities, and protect habitats for biodiversity. To learn more about how you can get involved for ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) visit https://onetreeplanted.org/pages/about-us.
#2 – Change a Child’s Life
The amazing people at Giving the Dollar have a unique and truly incredible mission. They offer a $1.00 monthly subscription which directly impacts a child in need. They provide a completely transparent giving experience and 100% of that dollar donated goes to helping children.
If every person gave $1, imagine how many lives they could impact? To learn more and join them on their mission to change someone’s life for ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) visit https://givingthedollar.org/.
#3 – Feed the Hungry
As one of the largest hunger-relief organizations in the world, Feeding America strives to get nourishing food – from farmers, manufacturers and retailers – to the people who need it most.
Living in a country that wastes billions of pounds of food each year, it’s crazy to hear that there are still people in America that go hungry. The Feeding America mission states that One Dollar = 10 Meals. Because of their numerous partnerships, Feeding America is able to secure and distribute at least 12 lbs of food for every dollar they bring in for the cause, which is equivalent to 10 meals. To learn more about how you can help feed America for ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) visit https://www.feedingamerica.org/hunger-in-america.
#4 – Save a Life
Here’s one that will cost you ZERO DOLLARS (aside from the fuel to get there): donate blood to the American Red Cross. The thought of donating blood may make some of you queasy, but your blood could save someone’s life.
In fact, at this very moment, blood supplies are dangerously low, and all blood types are needed. Head over to their site https://www.redcross.org/ and find the nearest location to donate in your area today. Who knows, you may just save a life and not even have to open your wallet to do it.
#5 – Feed a Child in Poverty
I know I already mentioned a way to feed the hungry, but this issue is too prevalent to only be mentioned once. There is another organization that works tirelessly to ensure every child and family has a full belly. Kids Against Hunger has a simple mission: eradicate world hunger. For just 25 cents you can provide a child with a nutritious meal. You read that right, 25 cents, $0.25. LESS than One Dollar = One Meal. The statistics for world hunger are astonishing, visit https://www.kidsagainsthunger.org/ to learn more about their mission and see how you can feed a child for less than ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) today.
All it takes is one person to change their mindset to start a wave of positivity throughout their community. My hope is that after reading this you can truly see how one tiny human really can make a big difference.
I leave you with a quote I have always tried to live by, one that I hope sparks a little something in each of you:
If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
